Calm water, oysters and long sunsets, 3 hours from Marrakech.

Oualidia is a small fishing village wrapped around a lagoon, sheltered from the Atlantic swell, between El Jadida and Safi. Families come for the calm water, the wild beaches and the slow pace, and many people from Casablanca and Rabat have made it their summer escape. A private house there means space for everyone, a pool for the children and long meals of the day's catch. We have visited every house we offer, and we take care of the rest.
Our private chefs →Oualidia lies on Morocco's Atlantic coast, between El Jadida and Safi, about 175 km south of Casablanca. The village is built around a crescent-shaped lagoon sheltered by rocks and a sand bar, which keeps the water calm while the ocean rolls in just beyond. It is a favourite of Moroccan families for weekends and summer holidays, and a peaceful alternative to the busier resorts of the coast.
Days revolve around the water: swimming and paddling in the lagoon, kayak or paddle board, boat trips to the sand bar, surfing and bodyboarding on the ocean beaches, long walks at low tide and birdwatching in the wetlands, where flamingos stop in season. Oualidia is also known for its oysters, farmed in the lagoon for decades: tasting them at the farms or at a beachfront restaurant is a must.
The beach season runs from April to October. July and August are the busiest months, with Moroccan families on holiday, so book your villa early. Spring and September are calmer, with mild temperatures, and the Atlantic keeps the air much fresher than in Marrakech in summer.
Oualidia is about 3 hours by car from Marrakech and 2 hours from Casablanca and its Mohammed V international airport. We arrange private transfers from either city, and many guests combine a few nights in a Marrakech villa with a stay by the ocean.
Hotels in Oualidia are small and fill up quickly in summer. A private villa gives a family or a group of friends their own pool, garden and kitchen, with housekeeping and, on request, a private chef who cooks the catch of the day. Every house we offer has been visited by our team, and you keep one contact from your first message to your last day.
